WCDC History

Warsaw and the Community Development Corporation In Brief:

The Warsaw Community Development Corporation began as a downtown association in 1976.

It was a group of business people concerned about the problems that were manifesting themselves in the Central Business District. This association began working to find solutions to problems of vacant buildings, deteriorating store fronts, parking and traffic flow -- all common to small cities and towns at the time. As a way to formally approach the problem, the Warsaw Community Development Corporation (WCDC) was formed.

This not-for-profit, 501 (C)3, corporation served as a force to revitalize downtown Warsaw.

Location:

The City of Warsaw is easily accessible by two major highways, US 30 and State Route 15. State Route 15 runs through the Central Business District making a visit to downtown convenient.

Located in downtown Warsaw are recreation areas provided by the City of Warsaw Parks Department. Center Lake, Center Lake Park and the newly constructed Central Park, all located on the north edge of downtown, provides fishing, swimming, picnic tables, a children's play area, and multiple gardens, fountains and walking paths to enjoy in the summer months; ice fishing and ice skating in the winter.

Other attractions around the Center Lake Park area are the Warsaw Biblical Gardens and a four-court tennis court with bleachers that hosts several local charity tournaments.
